DOT-ARMM Joins Halal Trade & Expo in Davao City
On May 5-7, 2017 the Department of Tourism-ARMM joined the Launching of the 2nd Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo in Davao City with the theme, “ Aggressive Development and Promotion in Halal Business and Tourism Industry: Moving Towards CHANGE in Philippine Market”.
As one of the project partners of the Universal Islamic Center Foundation (UICF), the region’s tourism headed by Regional Secretary Ayesha Vanessa Hajar M. Dilangalen was happy to be part of the activity that will help advocate and advance halal initiatives in the autonomous region.
Halal orientation and awareness was done by International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF) Secretary General Mohammed M. S. Badrie from United Arab Emirates. Understanding of halal in its simplest perspective/meaning down to the more detailed and technical aspect including Islamic laws that governs it was provided.
Aside from DOT-ARMM, UICF’s partner advocates include the Davao City Halal Industry Development Council, City Government of Davao, Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC), Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and the Department of Trade and Industry.
The Kalumon Dancers provided the dance and song number participated by different agencies and private sectors.
Highlighted the affair was the exhibit/product display of the MOROPRENEUR, Inc. and Lake Buluan Gourmet both offering food/gourmet products and the Cotabato Brassware Association for their fabric and brasswares.
Positive feedbacks and suggestions were aired after the activity such as the request for the availability of Todong during exposition as it drew attention from many buyers.
The exquisite and intricate Inaul fabric was featured during the Muslim Attire Fashion Show which gave appreciation and drew attention to aspiring designers and weavers.
Sec. Dilangalen was optimistic as event like this will promote the culinary, weaving and artistic side of the Moros and the communities in the region.
